Santiago’s PTA Programs
Our PTA has established a variety of traditions at Santiago that enable us to provide the highest quality education for our students. By working together, we can provide many opportunities for our Santiago students. Your membership dues, donations, fundraising and volunteer efforts all contribute to these PTA Programs:
The Nutcracker – Santiago is one of the only elementary schools in our district that puts on a theatrical production. Performances are done for the students at school, and also in a special evening performance for family and friends. A long time tradition, Parents coordinate, costume, coach, and choreograph our annual production of The Nutcracker.
Reflections – A National PTA program encouraging students to submit art entries in many categories including photography, film production, music composition, dance choreography, and visual arts. Santiago students who submit entries may have them displayed for the school or district.
Jog-A-Thon – Our annual athletic event and fundraiser where all students run laps on the field for fun and prizes. Students request donations from family and friends to support our PTA, and win fun prizes at the same time.
Family Fun Nights – Our PTA hosts 3 well-attended Family Fun Nights per year, all serving great food. Our Halloween/Fall Festival includes a silent auction and games. Our Book Fair kickoff invites families to gather and shop to support our school. Our June Glow Party is a fun end of year celebration.
Restaurant Fundraising Nights – We host a number of “painless fundraisers” inviting families, neighbors, and friends to eat out at a restaurant that gives a percentage of sales back to our PTA.
The Learning HUB – Over the years the PTA has played a major part in maintaining up-to-date technology for Santiago. The PTA has purchased hardware, software, and countless accessory and maintenance items for the lab. The PTA also covers the expenses of our Computer Aide. This year, we are raising funds to assist with a renovation of the computer lab, including new furniture.
Yearbook – Our Yearbook Committee works closely with our Yearbook vendor to create a memorable yearbook for our students to take home each year.
Bagels with a Loved One – A morning designed for parents and family members. Parents are treated to coffee, juice and bagels in our MPR.
Lunch with a Loved One – A special event when family may join students on campus for lunch.
Ice Cream Social – Our kickoff celebration to the new school year. Ice Cream Sundaes are offered to families when they come to check their new classroom assignments.
Book Fair – When the Scholastic Book Fair comes to our campus, the PTA volunteers handle the setup, take-down, and run the registers to allow each teacher, family, and student to spend time shopping for great books and educational materials.
Staff Appreciation Week – The PTA has used this week to show teachers and staff how much they are appreciated by means of lunch and pampering.
Room Parent/Representatives – These individuals provide behind the scenes help for students on various occasions such as class parties, field trips, or special projects. They are also an important communication link between the PTA and individual families as the “top of the classroom phone tree”.
Eagle’s Quill & PTA Website – Our PTA maintains excellent communication between Parents, Teacher, and Staff through our website, newsletter, facebook, and the Bloomz Mobile App.
