Virtual Field Trips

Virtual Field Trip & Demonstration: Light Show

Santiago STEAM Magnet is proud to present our Virtual Field Trips and (Cool) Demonstrations program. At Santiago STEAM, our students are asked to think outside of the box to solve problems and innovate solutions. Our students are preparing to be leaders in their community and to push boundaries in their future endeavors. Here, local businesses are working with our PTA to bring the future of STEAM education to a reality, by providing a behind the scene’s look into exciting careers that can be gained with the aid of a STEAM education.

This next field trip is to learn about how a colorful light show is created by a family in the Santiago STEAM community, the Kramer Family!

In this colorful field trip, Mrs. Kramer takes us on a field trip of her x-mas light show. She shows how she constructed a flag pole to hold up her lighted x-mas tree, how different lights are connected to play with color, how they are synced with music you can play on the radio, and so much more!

We hope this video helps encourage our Santiago engineers to also think about how items can be repurposed or paired together to create something as beautiful and exciting as this light show.

Watch the Kramer Family’s light show and enjoy!

Respond to the Field Trip:

After finishing your virtual field trip to learn about the light show, we want to know what you think about the construction implementation of all the elements of the light show. What did you learn about the STEAM skills needed to create this light show? Share what you learned in a video, with a note or by drawing a picture. You can even write a thank you letter to the Kramer Family for putting together this field trip.  All students who participate and respond to virtual field trips will get a participation button.
