Food Truck:
Chik-n-Waffle
Games and Chalk Obstacle Course: (Games: 1-4 Tickets Each)
We have several games for the festival that need to be set up and prepped before the event begins and then packed up at the end of the event. We’re hoping to get high school volunteers to help run the games, but we need a volunteer or two to help run each volunteer through the games so they can do it on their own. If interested, please email info@santiagopta.com and we’ll give you a run down of each game and any work that needs to be done ahead of time like blowing up small balloons or setting up fish bowls with little decorations. All relatively simple, but we still need help getting them ready.
- Plinko – Need a few charismatic volunteers to run this crowd favorite game
- Obstacle course – We have an amazing parent creating this course, and would love a few enthusiastic volunteers to make it a success
- Balloon pop, fish bowls, grand slam, basketball and cornhole toss are all looking for volunteers who can give an hour or two of volunteer time
STEAM Into the Future Path: (Activities: 0- 3Tickets)
To celebrate our amazing STEAM program and look to the next 50 years of Santiago, we are showing off the wonders of a STEAM education. Each booth will highlight a different and unique STEAM attribute in a fun and interactive way. Start at the Science booth where our very own upper grade students will be rotating throughout the evening to share how science improves our lives. Be wowed by the interactive technology booth where you’ll learn that human innovation makes life easier. Follow the path to engineering where you’ll see that creating something new means building it one block at a time. Participate in the art project and feel how creating art activates your senses. Finally, play a math game and realize that math is about so much more than numbers.
Photo Booth Wall: (Free Activity)
Since it’s the 50th Anniversary we will be setting up a groovy backdrop with props from the past 5 decades. Get ready to be groovy, rad, phat, hot, and the absolute GOAT. The photo wall will be free to all who attend.
DJ: (Free Activity)
This year we’ve invited Soul-Cal Entertainment to DJ our event. They’ll be playing music to keep the joggers excited and enthused to run laps, and bringing special games and prizes to keep the party going.
Jogathon:
Our most beloved fundraiser is back with a bang! Joggers will be fired up with music and cheered on by family and friends, while also supporting the school in important ways by raising money for the PTA. This is more than a jogathon, this is where community comes together to make things happen at our unique little school. Jogathon kicks off April 27th! Please visit our Jogathon page for details on how to register, the event and prizes: https://santiagopta.com/2022/04/26/50th-anniversary-jog-a-thon/
Student Displays: (Free and a must see to celebrate our students & community)
STEAM Rises Up Displays:
Last year our students showed us in art, collage, video and written word how they persevered during the pandemic. Take time to marvel and appreciate how resilient our young students have proven themselves to be over the past two years.
Cal Poly Pomona Display: Will be displayed near library and dedication/speeches
This year we have secured a partnership with Cal Poly Pomona to help redesign garden spaces. Both graduate and undergraduate students have contributed ideas to what they can see next for our garden spaces, and these plans will be on display.
5th Grade Photos: Will be displayed at Science Booth
For the 50th Anniversary Celebration, the 5th graders have been taking photos of Santiago STEAM to capture what the school looks like today. Come look at their photos to see what school looks like through their lenses.
Celebrate “50” Art Contest:
Student’s have until May3rd to enter the art contest where they simply create the number “50” in an artistic way, or create a large scale version of a “50” with their family. Each entry must use at least one recycled, reclaimed or natural material. All entries will not only go on display at the festival, but the large scale entries will be displayed throughout the event so friends and families can take pictures next to them and celebrate 50 wonderful years of Santiago.
Haiku Winners:
Some of the Garden Haiku winners will be reading their haikus live at the event. Come support our poets!
Jet Propulsion Laboratory:
We are so fortunate to have Jet Propulsion Laboratory work with us to show our students how a STEAM education can lead to incredible options in the future. Students who are inspired to design a “Mission to Mars” or rover will have their designs displayed at the festival. This display is just one more example of how Santiago STEAM is always looking to the future.
Silent Auction:
We already have so many amazing donors for the silent auction. Make sure to stop by to bid on one or more items. The silent auction table will be located right next to the snack bar. All bids will close promptly at 6:45PM.
In preparation, we are looking for a parent from each classroom to step up to organize a classroom basket for the silent auction. These baskets can be as simple or extravagant as you like. The idea is to come up with a theme for the basket (movie night, fitness, wellness, games, etc) and then have as many parents from the class as possible, donate an item to the basket. We will do classroom sign ups in the spring, but if you already know this is something you can take care of, please reach out to us and let us know at info@santiagopta.com
