Garden Club
The multiphase gardening project is in full swing, transforming garden areas. When you have time, give yourself a tour around the school during non-school hours to see all the improvements. Many of the gardens offer interactive elements and/or outdoor learning environments. If you haven’t already, follow Garden Club on instagram @santiagosteamgarden and email them at to join.  In addition to the budget provided by the PTA for Garden Club, we’ve also partnered with the Home Depot in Mission Viejo. Their team came out just before winter break to plant a fruit orchard, and are also planning to help us with the next phase of the garden project. Garden Club has also established an exciting partnership with CalPoly Pomona. Starting this winter, CalPoly graduate and undergraduate classes will be collaborating with our students to envision a potential new outdoor learning space for our school. You can sign up for independent garden projects here:

Virtual Field Trips & Demonstrations
We have put together several field trips this year for families to enjoy at their leisure. All students who watch virtual field trips and then respond to the form on the page will receive a Virtual Field Trip & Demonstration spirit button. Check out the field trips so far and look for more to come.

50th Anniversary Festival & Jogathon – May 21, 4-7pm* Please sign up on bloomz to volunteer day of event

This will be the biggest end of the year party in the history of Santiago. We’ll be honoring the last 50 years of Santiago with photo displays, themed attractions and special guests. As well as taking an in depth look at our future with dedications, displays, a garden project, and a journey up the STEAM into the Future path. Plus, we’ll be running several Jogathon heats, jamming with a DJ, enjoying the snack bar and playing games. Fun is sure to be had by all, and we hope that everyone signs up for a volunteer shift to help make this happen. Email if you would like to volunteer.

*STEAM Into the Future Path

We need 5 families to volunteer to create one station each. A science station, technology station, engineering station, art station and math station. Each station will celebrate their theme by decorating and creating a simple activity or demonstration based on their theme. This should be fun and simple to reinforce the wonders of a STEAM education to our students and visitors. If you are interested, please email

*Silent Auction

We are looking for a parent from each classroom to step up to organize a classroom basket for the silent auction. These baskets can be as simple or extravagant as you like. The idea is to come up with a theme for the basket (movie night, fitness, wellness, games, etc) and then have as many parents from the class as possible, donate an item to the basket. We will do classroom sign ups in the spring, but if you already know this is something you can take care of, please reach out to us and let us know at

As volunteers step up, we’ll check them off below. Contact name and email for the classroom basket organizers will go out on classroom bloomz in April as we get closer to the event.

Jogathon is one of the most beloved fundraisers of the year. Students raise money for the school and get to participate in heats with their classmates. We’re setting up a DJ right on the field to play music and encourage our little joggers to have fun while exercising. This event is sure to be fun and exciting. We are looking for a co-chair to help put this together. If you’re interested, please email

*Snack Bar Organizing Volunteers Found – Still need volunteers to help day of event. Sign up on bloomz.

We have someone doing most of the shopping for this, but she can’t commit to the day-of event requirements. So we’ll need someone to pick it up as the lead person picking up the pizza order and/or ice, and setting up everything. Also coordinating with the other volunteers to make sure everything is ready to go. If you would like to help organize/run the snack bar, please email

*Ticket Sales

Need someone to bundle tickets into pre-counted bundles for easy distribution. Email if you can help. Volunteer Found

*Games Lead(s)

We have several games for the festival that need to be set up and prepped before the event begins and then packed up at the end of the event. We’re hoping to get high school volunteers to help run the games, but we need a volunteer or two to help run each volunteer through the games so they can do it on their own. If interested, please email and we’ll give you a run down of each game and any work that needs to be done ahead of time like blowing up small balloons or setting up fish bowls with little decorations. All relatively simple, but we still need help getting them ready.

*Day of Volunteers: All 1.5hr shifts

  • Set up – 20 Volunteers Needed
  • Clean up – 20 Volunteers Needed
  • Game stations – 12 volunteers
  • Display Monitors – 2 volunteers
  • Snack Bar – 6 volunteers
  • Ticket Sales – 4-6 volunteers
  • Silent Auction Monitors – 2-4 volunteers
  • Jogathon – 4-6 volunteers
  • STEAM Into the Future Path – 5 volunteers (so the creators of the booth can enjoy the festival as well)
  • Bloomz signup will be posted closer to the event for these volunteer slots

Night Out at the Ballpark – Angel Stadium
This spring, let’s all go to a ball game! We have been invited to do a special fundraiser with Angel Stadium, that will also be a great community night out. Buy tickets to the Angels vs. Blue Jays on May 26th at 6:38PM through the provided Santiago LINK. Tickets have been discounted to $15, and with every ticket purchased, $6 will be donated back to the PTA.

When you click on the link, there are several sections to choose from. We’re going to encourage Santiago Families to get tickets from the “Field Box” section so we can all sit together, but of course, you are welcome to choose another selection if you wish. Feel free to share the link with families and friends. The more the merrier. Get tickets. Mark your calendars. Wear your Santiago steam wear, and we’ll see you at the ballpark!

Dad’s Club
This is another great way to get involved. Dad’s Club has been an invaluable resource when we need things built, items need fixed, muscles need to lift, push or pull, trucks need to be loaded, and help is generally needed. If you would like to throw your skills into the mix, please sign up here:

Thank you everyone for your support and interest in the PTA. Without dedicated volunteers and a community that cares, none of this would be possible.
